Ashhurst
(From Our Own Correspondent.) At the annual meeting of the Asht burst Domain Board those present were . Messrs. M. P. Wilkin (chairman), J. A. a McDonell, R. D. Davis, T. C. Romley and W. N. Brewer (secretary). The secretary presented the annual balance sheet, receipts for the year being £62 14s 3d, expenditure £135 17s 9d, leading a credit of £lO4 5s Id. The caretaker reported that the recent flood had buried about 4 or 5 chain of fencing with rubbish and silt. In the previous flood 7 concrete posts were broken 1 and an angle post had been lifted. A good coating of silt had been deposited ’ over the grass lands and all through tne lupin portion of the lower domain. A 1 letter was received xrom the Lands and ' ; Survey Department advising that Mr. '; T. C. Romley had been appointed a j member of the Board iu the place of ' ; Mr. F. Dunstall. Twelve picnics had been held during the year and many 1 visitors from far and near had fre--1 quented the Domain. An inspection by 1 ’ the Board was made during the week, [and after considering the damage done 1 to fences, it was decided to have them 1 repaired. Mr. M. P. Wilkin was reelected chairman for the ensuing year | and Mr. W. N. Brewer re-elected secretary to the Boaid. The chairman I thanked the members for their co-opera* | tion. j A full attendance was present at the annual meeting of the Ashhurst Cemetery Board, when Mr. Wilkin presided. A letter was received from the Oroua County Council confirming Mr. T. C. Romley *s appointment to the Ashuurst Cemetery Board. Receipts for the year were £B2 2s lOd and the expenditure £44 10s Id, leaving a credit balance of £248 7s fld. During the year 16 interments had taken place. The election of chairman and secretary for the ensuing year resulted iu Messrs. M. P. Wilkin and W. N. Brewer being reelected. Mx*. Wilkin, chairman, thanked members for their co-operation. Patriotic Shop The Patriotic Shop was opened again last week, the sum of £5 7s being made. Donations were received from the following:—Mesdames Bleakley, Muldrock, Flowers, Sumner, Templeton, Davis, Roberts, Lockhead, Brown, Knapp, Woodroofe, Schnell, Maul, W. Smith, Fairless, Clapham, 0. Brewer, A. Blflct, Tremewan, Cook, Sixtus, Farnell, Peck, Hackett, Amon, T. Romley, Middleton, Murphy, Misses McDonald, Akers, E. Drummond, Romley, Hills, Messrs. Holdaway, Muldrock, A. Williams, Watson, Thornley, Morris, F. Williamson. This month 24 parcels have been sent to boys overseas by the Patriotic Committee.
