Lord Austin Dead

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 23. The death has occurred of Lord Austin, chairman of Austin Motors. Lord Austin was 73 years of age. He was born at Little Missenden, Buckinghamshire. After having served his apprenticeship to the engineering trade at the t,ang]ands foundry, Melbourne, he managed several small works in the Victorian capital before returning to England to control tho manufacture of the Wolseley sheep-shearing machine. He was made a director of the firm in 1900. After being manager of the Wolseley Tool and Motor-car Co., Ltd., Birmingham, for five years, he begun the manufacture of cars on his own account at the Longbridge works, Northficld, Birmingham, in 1905. From 1919 to 1924 ho was M.P. for King’s Norton, Birmingham.
