“Britain’s Future in Prophecy ”

A lecture was given under BritishIsrael World Federation auspices to a large gathering in the Opera House last evening by Revfl S. Robertson Orr, Canadian Presbyterian minister, who spoke on “Britain’s Future in Phophecy. ” His Worship the Mayor presided. Since Britain and tho United States were in possession of the covenants and promises made to Israel, said Mr. Orr, the Anglo-Saxon peoples would be preserved and victorious. Substituting Anglo-Saxon for tho word Israel meant having an up-to-date Bible. It was only because there was an Israel among the nations that the world would be delivered, civilisation maintained and the Kingdom of God go forward. “The future of Britain in prophecy,” the lecturer proceeded, “is wrapped up in the Bible Tarshish—its merchants, seas, ships, silver and gold, all referring to one nation and postulating a great maritime power in the latter days. This people is seen in prophecy still preserved and functioning after the ultimate struggle has finished. The AngloSaxon peoples are tho only nations that fit into the picture. “It is no accident that the territorial possessions of the Gentile nations are falling to the dictators while the ships of the fallen nations are coming under the banner of Britain. What a glorious Providence is at work when we seo tha,t for every ship we lose another three are forthcoming, and the merchants of Tarshish are getting the ships of the world! ” Upon the continuance and preservation of tho Anglo-Saxon peoples, Mr. Orr added, were dependent the savings and business of British people. Thero could be no doubt that Britain would survive, because she was Israel, but no one could forecast the cost in pounds, shillings and pence. There must be some re-adjustment in the whole financial system. Two things were outstanding. Only if the governmental system of the British Commonwealth of Nations survived—as it certainly would—could our possessions be safe; and the only safe investments now were land and Government war savings.
