Louis Still Holds Title

BAER FAILS TO RETURN I IN SEVENTH ROUND Received Sunday, 7.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, May 24. Louis retained his world title in a match with Buddy Baer, who was unable to answer the bell at the start of the seventh round. Louis was knocked through the ropes in the first round, but he was back at the count of four. Thereafter he completely outclassed the challenger. Baer was sent to the canvas twice in the sixth round and had just risen us the referee was reaching the count of ten when the bell rang. Louis apparently did not hear the bell due to the roar of tho crowd of 40,000 and landed a terrific right which knocked Baer unconscious. The referee (Mr. Donovan) said the last blow was landed before the bell, but most observers differ. When Baer Avas unable to answer the bell the referee disqualified film.
