The following message was despatched to Queen Mary by the GovernorGeneral on the occasion of her Majesty’s birthday: “My wife and I join Avith the Government and peoples of New Zealand in tendering respectful congratulations and good Avishes on the occasion of your Majesty’s birthday. All in New Zealand pray for your Majesty’s safety and well-being in these days of trial.” Rev. A. H. Finlay, of Palmerston North, has acceptod a call to the Mos giol Baptist Church, where he will succeed Rev. E. P. Y. Simpson, who will leave Mosgiel in July to go to Wellington. The holder of a distinguished record gained in peace and war, Air ViceMarshall J. T. Babington has arrived in Auckland from overseas and is a guest at Government House. He was appointed Air Officer Commanding the Royal Air Force in the Far East in 1938. The congregation of the Seatoun Presbyterian Church has decided to extend a call to Rev. Dr. E. N .Merrington, M.A., Ph.D., who is at present relieving at St. Andrew’s, Wellington. Ho recently retired from the position of master of Knox College, Dunedin, and before that was minister of the First Church, Dunedin. The Wellington Presbytery was sustained a call from the Ashburton Presbyterian Church to Rev. J. S. Murray, M.A., Kelburn.
