Mr. R. Vautier, of Whakarongo, lias received a cable from liis son, Gunner Ivan Vautier, stating that lie is safe and well. A cablegram has been received by Mrs. W. C. Turner, of Palmerston North, stating that her son Driver Lance Corporal C. K. Turner is safe aud well. Messrs. F. Cubitt, H. A. Seifert, and H. G. Mills are official delegates from Palmerston North to the National Party conference iu Wellington, accompanied by Mr. D. Black. Bev. H. B. Goertz, Anglican vicar of Paraparaumu and formerly of Ashhurst, received a fracture of the right thigh when he fell off a roof he was painting at Paraparaumu on Thursday afternoon. Dr. Allen G. Butter, superintendent of the Methodist Medical Mission m the Solomon Islands, is visiting Palmerston North and will be the guest of Mrs. J. Cunninghame, Heretaunga Street, over the week-end. The promotion is gazetted of 2nd.Lieut. A. G. A. Baigent, who was recently transferred from the Welling-ton-West Coast Regiment to the Hawke’s Bay Begiment (intelligence staff), to the rank of lieutenant (temporary).
