Ladies’ Day at Lunch Club
Yesterday was “Ladies’ Day” at the Palmerston North Citizens’ Luncn Club, when the following visitors were Avelcomcd: Mrs. Winton, Mrs. Tveid, Miss Reid, Miss Harper, Mrs. Lovelock, Miss Stevens, Mrs. Tomlinson, Misses N. and M. Tomlinson, and Miss D. Milne (Hamilton). The speaker was Miss M. Cranston and her subject was “Personality.” it was impossible to define personality iu definite material terms, sho stated, but it was one of the factors, together with ability and educt lion, which made for success iu life. The qualities to make up personality were dealt with by the speaker, who concluded her address with word pictures of four outstanding men and women—Lawrence of Arabia, Florence Nightingale, Dame Ethel Sinythe and Flynn of the Australian Inland Mission. On the motion of Mr. A. V. Pizzey, who was in tho chair, Miss Cranston was accorded the club’s thanks.
