FURTHER APPEALS HEARD The No. 3 Armed Forces Appeal Board concluded its sittings in Palmers- ! ton North on Thursday afternoon. S. R. A. Slmiler A\as appealed for by A. .1. Shailer on the ground of public interest and undue hardship. Mr. (J. Tremaine, for appellant, stated that the 'reservist. Avas absolutely essential to his father’s business. Appeal dimissed, conditionally on tlio reservist not being •called up before August 31. L. J. Hunter, manager of the MangaAvhata dairy factory and late manager of the Ranagiotu factory, stated that the reservist was an experienced man and could not bo spared lor Territorial training. Adjourned sine die, conditionally on reservist joining the Home Guard within 1 i days. Several farmers and farm employees appealed on the grounds of undue hardship and public interest. These cases ; were as follow: D. A. Brovru, also appeal by H. Holmes; adjourned sine die, conditionally on the reservist remaining in the Home Guard. W. J. Midgley (also appeal by E. Hasloch), adjourned sine die. the reservist to oc transferred to the Territorial Force and under A- three months’ training during .\pril3lay and .Tune, 1942. .T. A. Parsons, appeal .T. W. Parsons (Mr. Power), adjourned sine die, the reservist being transferred to Territorial Force for , three months’ training in June, July and August. C. B. Anderson, appeal by iC. L. Anderson (Mr. B. .Mackay); adjourned sine die, the reservist being transferred to the Territorial Force for three months’ training during May, •Tune and July, 1942. R. H. V atts; appeal dismissed. R. Langston (also appeal by D. R. Langstone); dismissed for want of prosecution. Reserved decisions were given in the following cases: F. G. Holt (Rongotea), appeal dismissed, the reservist not to be called up before Juno 30. Appeals by the New Zealand (Timber) Boxmakers* Association for C. A. Peart, L. Hart and J. F. Charles; adjourned for three months iu order that the association may have the opportunity to replace the reservists avith married men or men not eligible for military service.
