Britain’s Decreasing Unemployed
(British Ofticial Wireless.) RUGBY, May 21. The number of men and boys registered at employment exchanges in Great Britain as wholly unemployed at April 21 w r as 157,239 —a decrease of 15,421 compared with March 17 and of 402,559 compared with April 15, 1940. Of the total 36,915 have been classified by the interviewing panels as unsuitable for ordinary industrial employment. The corresponding figures for women and girls at April 21 are 161,533 wholly unemployed, of whom 3797 have been classified by the interviewing panels as unsuitable for normal full-time employment. Compared with March 17 the number wholly unemployed showed a decrease of 30,115 and compared with April 15, 1940, a decrease of 118,396.
