Lieutenant-Colonel S. G. Scoular, New Zealand Artillery, relinquishes the command of the third field regiment and is transferred to the reserve of officers.

Sympathy with Mr. W. Mouldey, Mr. R. Emmett and Miss A. Pickering (secretary), who had been indisposed, was expressed at yesterday's meeting of the general committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association.

Mr. V. Monrad, of Palmerston North, was able to attend yesterday's meeting of the general committee of the Manawatu A. and P. Association after recovering successfully from a long illness. Re was accorded a warm welcome back.

The sympathy of the Manawatu A. and P. Association members is to be conveyed to the relatives of the late Mr. F. J. Ellis, Bulls, -who was a successful exhibitor of Romney sheep at shows. Members of the general committee yesterday stood in silence as a mark of respect. The passing of Mr. J. J. Buchanan, Waitahora, Dannevirke, a member of the Manawatu A. and P. Association for many years, was referred to with regret at yesterday’s meeting of the general committee of the association, when a motion of sympathy with relatives was passed in silence.

Mr. John Wood, formerly Chief Public Works Engineer, relinquishes his honorary commission of group captain of the R.N.Z.A.F. on his retirement from the appointment of Director-General of Works and Buildings in the R.N.Z.A.F., and Mr. W. L. Newnham is appointed Director of Works and Buildings in his stead. Mr. Newnham will also hold the honorary rank of group captain.

The death has occurred at his residence at Auckland of Mr. George Geo in his 100th. year. Mr. Gee, who celebrated his 09th. birthday last October, enjoyed excellent health up to about a month ago. Except for the impairment of his sight and hearing, he was able to keep in touch with everyday affairs. Born in London, Mr. Gee, at the age of 10, came to New Zealand with his parents on the Ship Sir George Pollock, which arrived at Lyttelton in 1851. Mr. Gee was in business in Christchurch for some years and later lived at Timaru and Dunedin before settling in Auckland in 1881. Mr. Gee is survived by two sons and three daughters.
