I ■ —— I (From Our Own Correspondent.) Farewell to Mrs. D. McPherson The ladies of tne Apiti Presbyterian Church gathered at the home of Mrs. C. Spence on Tuesday afternoon to farewell Mrs. McPherson, who is shortly leaving Apiti to make her home at Newbury. Musical items were given by Mrs. B. Waterson, Misses Johnstone and Bensemann, and competitions arranged by Mrs. Bensemann and Miss Cowan were won by Miss Strahan and Mrs. F. Massey. Rev. Baxter spoke of Mrs. McPherson’s long association with the ’district as she is a member of a family i which has done much for the church, 'in recent years Mrs. McPherson has been busy attending to her young family, but the ladies wished to say farewell and to extend all good wishes for the future. Rev. Baxter thanked Mrs. Spence • for the use of her home. Phyllis Mapson then presented Mrs. McPherson with a posy of chysanthemums, and Mrs. Bensemann made the presentation of a leather handbag. Mrs. McPherson expressed her thanks and hoped that the ladies would find time when visiting town to call and see her. Y. F. Club The chairman and secretary, Messrs. E. S. Payton and Bob Stewart, of the Apiti Y. F. Club, again took over their duties at the May meeting, and thanks were extended to Mr. 11. M. Mclntyre and Mr. Colin Hogan, who acted while the former were in Territorial camp. Messrs. J. R. Osborne and A. Cowan were the Apiti delegates to the annual meeting of the Manawatu Federation of Y.F.C.s and gave a brief report of proceedings. Sergeant-Pilot H. G. Viles, a local member now in the R.N.Z.A.F. gave an address on the training of a pilot. Personal Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Cowan, and family are holidaying in Hawke’s Bay.
