An Apology

(To the Editor.) ; Sir, —My attention has been drawn to your leading article of Saturday, May 110, in which you again make the statejment that at the New Zealand Labour Party's Easter Conference a resolution favouring withdrawal .from the war was 'supported by II per cent, of the delegjates present. In my letter of April 2S ,1 pointed out that tho statement was entirely incorrect and that no such vote , was taken at the Labour Party ConferJence, nor was there any suggestion that jwe should withdraw from the war. j Your attention is also drawn to the fact that a unanimous resolution was passed j endorsing all the measures taken by the Government to bring the war to a successful conclusion. I am loath to ! believe that your statement of May 10 was deliberate misrepresentation and I j should be pleased if you would be good enough to make the necessary correction.—l am, etc., M. MOOHAN, National Secretary, N.Z. labour Party. [W« 4 deeply .regret having put Mr. MOohan to the'trouble of writing tjvo letters. The incident referred to, wo have now discovered, did not take place at the Easter Conference of the Labour Party, but, as Mr. Moohan knows quite well, at the annual conference of the New Zealand Federation of Labour, which immediately precedes the Easter Conference. We do not know what actual difference there is between the two gatherings, because the proceedings' of both are always shrouded in such sepulchral secrecy. Perhaps Mr. Moohan will enlighten our readers on this point and tell them how many, if any, of the “11 per cent, quitters” were present at both conferences, also whether those quitters are still allowed to take a prominent part in the counsels of the Federation of Labour.-—Ed., M.D.T.J
