All Saints’ Branch Of Mothers’ Union

Tho usual monthly meeting of the All Saints’ Mothers' Union was held yesterday afternoon in the Kindergarten Schoolroom after a service in the Lady Chapel. Mrs. E. Davvick, enrolling member, presided over a very largo attendance. A letter was read inviting members to a social afternoon for St. Peter's branch birthday celeorations on June 13. Mrs. Dawick reminded members of birthday celebrations of the branch on June 11, when the programme will be: Corporate Communion at 11 a.m., a social afternoon with Deaconess Hemi Park as tue speaker, and a social evening to which husbanus are invited. Members volunteered for service at the Showgrounds during the next three , evenings.

Mrs. Briden Jones reported on the National Council of Women annual meeting, and anoounced that June 1(5 would be an open meeting addressed by Mrs. Simpson. Mrs. Briden Jones also reported on a year's work by the sewing circle, 917 articles having oheu made. The same committee was reelected en bloc for the ensuing year. Rev. do Caudole made one or two announcements about tue Children's .week, especially emphasising Sister xienis address to the ± J aronts’ Association on the Thursday, aud appealed tor help for the special day on Saturday.

Miss Joan Wollerman sang two songs from a cycle called ‘ ‘ Songs of the madonna, ” by Charles Willoughoy and Alfred Noyes. Her accompanist was Mrs. Wollerman. Mrs. Bigham expressed tne warm thanks of tho audience for her oeautlful rendition.

The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs. Mcxvain. Her subject was King Leopold and tue Battle of Flanders, anu she quoted extensively from statements of ex-TTesideut lioover, who refuted the charge of treason levelled against the King of the Belgians, supporting his refutation by numbers of authentic documents.

A vote of thanks was passed to the speaker on tue motion of Mrs. Woodward.

Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mrs. Martin (convener), Mrs. Dalziel, Mrs. MpCullock and Mrs. Clarke.
