(From Our Own Correspondent.) A happy evening of dancing was enjoyed at the hall on Alav 17 for a prewedding party arranged by the many friends of Miss Ann Batehelar and Mr. Basil Aliller, who will shortly be married in the picturesque little wayside chapel at Komako. Friends from Apiti, Table Flat, Fokangina aud Aiount Richards accorded the happy couple musical honours after Mr. B. Al. Flavall presented them, on behalf of those pre-

sent, with a large number of gift parcels. Mr. Aliller returned thunks. A delicious supper was served by the ladies of Utuwai. At midnight this cheery event was concluded by the singing of “Auld Lang Byne,” followed by the -National Anthem.

Cupid has been shooting his little arrows at other targets in the Utuwai area recently. The numerous friends o.t‘ Air. “Snowy” Viles and Alisa May Harkness are congratulating them on their recent betrotiial. Air. Viles is on leave pending his departure overseas as flight-sergeant in the R.N.Z.A.F. Mr. G. H. Nichols aiso has been receiving the good wishes of friends on account of his approaching marriage to Aliss Lindsay, of Wellington. Airs. Hirschberg, with her two children, Bill and Jo, have returned from a week’s holiday spent in Slarton. Air. and Airs. R. O. Batehelar returned after a restful holiday of two weeks at Lake Taupo. Mr. R. S. Roberts, of Piripiri, is away on holiday in Eaetihi. Air. Colin Searle and his committee are busy renovating the school environs. Air. j. AlcEwen’s friends are wishing him a* speedy recovery from his infirmities. He is under treatment at the sanatorium in Rotorua.
