Congregational Ladies
The successful Mothers’ Day services held at the Congregational Church on Sunday last were concluded on Tuesday afternoon when members of the Ladies’ Guild remembered “Mother,” Mrs. W. Garner presiding. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Mundv, Wright and Miss Rose Edwards. The guild will be responsible for t'he Patriotic Shop on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of this month and ali were asked to do their begt to make this a financial success. The speaker was Adjutant Tyler, of the Salvation Army, who spoke on tho Motherhood of God. Mrs. Garner thanked the speaker. Mrs. Page, the convener of the wool committee, intimated that a parcel of knitting for minesweepers would soon be ready to hand to headquarters. Afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mesdames W. Lyon and Ijl. W. Drake. These ladies were thanked by Mrs. Grcig. During the meeting members stood in silence out of sympathy for mothers who had lost their sons on active service during tho past few weeks. Elocutionary items by Mrs. F. Shearman and a vocal solo by Mrs. Lyon, “Mother Macree,” were much enjoyed. The meeting closed with prayer.
