Hockey in Manawatu
FEILDING TEAMS WANT TO PLAY HERE With little likelihood of there being sufficient hockey teams in Fell ding this season to permit of competition matches, there, a deputation from the Feilding Hockey Association waited on the executive of the. Manawatu Association last night with a view to Feilding learns being permitted to play in the Manawatu competitions. It was stated by Messrs. Trass, and Packer, representing Feilding, that it had been anticipated that sufficient teams would be forthcoming to permit of competition games being proceeded with, but depletions due to the war would apparently make this impossible. It was thought that one senior and one junior team would be forthcoming, with possibly another senior team from Onopuhi. The Feilding teams were prepared to play home-and-away matches in tho Manawatu competitions if their entries were accepted. After discussion it was decided to admit Feilding teams to the competi tions provided that they make arrangements with the Feilding Association for the use of two grounds every Saturday. It was suggested that the Feilding Association should make application to the New Zealand Association for permission to become a sub-association of Manawatu for tho duration of tho war, without alteration of boundaries. This would permit of Feilding being repre-
sented on the Manawatu executive and would enable Feilding players to be included in Manawatu representative teams. There were present: Messrs. L. Martin (in the chair), R. L. C. Aitchison, L. H. Eendle, J. I). McDonald, H. B. I. awry, F. McLachlan, H. Byers, W. Sutton, ,T. Gallichan, E. K. Beale and E. A. Brace. Best wishes were extended to Massey College, who will be defending the Seddon Stick at the New Zealand University tournament at Auckland on May 21, 22 and 23. Consent was received from the Rangitikei Association to Feilding ladies playing in Palmerston North this season.
