Mrs. C. Batchelor and Airs. S. McIntosh left yesterday to spend a holiday at Napier. Mr. W. H. Grant, of Sydney, is at present the guest of his sister, Mrs. W. H. Nelson, ‘ 4 Laureston. ’’ Privates H. Bonny and C. E. Maclean wero among the Trentham men who spent the week-end in Woodville. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Arlidge, Hope Road, have returned from a holiday spent in the Bay of Islands district. Mrs. Seeker, Ross Street, has received cabled advice that Gunner R. J. Seeker has been safely evacuated from Greece. Misses Avis and Jean Crosby have returned to Christchurch after staying with their cousin, Mrs. Gibbons, Grey Street. Nurso McLean, of the Dannevirke Hospital, who has been spending portion of her vacation with her parents, Mr. aud Airs. F. R. McLean, Alaharahara West, is continuing her holidays with her sister in Hastings. Air. and Airs. R. G. Smith, McLean Street, received advice yesterday afternoon that their son, Private Victor Smith, has been killed in action in Greece. The sympathy of the many friends of Air. and Airs . Smith and family will be extended to them in their sad bereavement.
