A Protest

(To the Editor.) Sir,-—I attended the farewell to soldiers in tho Opera House last night and was disgusted when Mr. K. A. Henderson in his speech on behalf of the business community took the opportunity to insult 'Mr. Tennent who was on the platform and do some electioneering on behalf of the Mayor whose nomination paper he signed. I think it was distinctly bad taste to say the least of it when wo parents, with sad hearts, attend a meeting to say farewell to our boys, and have to listen to a statement like this from Mr. Henderson. It shows tho sorry plight Mr. Mansford is in and the length his supporters will go to. The audience was dumbfounded, and Mr. Mansford should have remarked that tho statement was out of place.—l am, etc., A SOLDIER’S FATHER.
