Feilding Borough Elections
By advertisement in lhis issue, electors of the Borough of Feilding are reminded of the triennial elections to be held oil Saturday next for nine councillors and ono member of the MauaAvatuOroua Electric Poavot Board respectively. There aro eleven nominations for the office of councillors (nine required) and tAVO for tho PoAver Board vacancy. Thero being only tho required number of candidates offering for the office oi Mayor (Mr. T. L. beddon re-clected), member of the Hospital Board (Mr. Y. E. Smith re-elected) and member of the Foxton Harbour Board (Mr. H. J. Dcavo elected) respectively, no contest is necessary. Likewise, no contest was necessaiy for tho election of two members of the Wellington Harbour Board for the combined district of Avhich Feilding is a part, Messrs M. A. Eliott and W. L. Fitzherbert being re-clected unopposed. It is important to note that the elections on {Saturday will represent several new features introduced by tho 1941 Amendment of the Act. The first relates to the form of voting-paper and tho method of voting. On this occasion the voter is to mark a cross in the square sot opposite to the name of the candidate or candidates “for Avhom he desires to vote’’ in lieu of the old method of striking out the name of every candidate “for Avhom he did not desire to vote.’’ A specimen votingpaper is on view at the Council. Chambers. The other change relates to the duration of the poll, the closing hour being 6 p.m. in lieu of 7 p.m.
