Flooding in Kairanga County
SETTLERS ACCORDED SYMPATHY OF COUNCIL Flood sufferers in the Kairanga County were accorded the sympathy of the - County Council yesterday, the chairman (Cr. W. R. Hopcroft) expressing the regret felt at the disastrous occurrence. In his report the engineer (Mr. L. C. Pickering) said that, had the Oroua River and the Mangaone Stream been in simultaneous Hood, he hesitated to visualise tho area that would have been imindated and tho damage that Avould have been caused. As it turned out, very little damage to county property and roads Avas sustained in relation to tho areas flooded.
