Twenty-five ships totalling 200,000 tons belonging to the Alcoa Steamship Company havo been chartered to Canadian interests under President Roosevelt’s 2,000,000 tons shipping pool plan to assist Britain. Tho Australian Prime Minister (Mr. R. G. Menzies) told the press at Toronto that he was convinced tho North American continent would do more than any other part of the world to overtako Germany’s enormous superiority in material which was the enemy’s only superiority. "I have been very much struck by the unity of purpose of the Canadian people and the enthusiasm for tho war effort. As far as I can see everything possible is being done to aid Britain and it is being done with increasing speed.”
