Home Guard Notes

The area commander, Lieut. C. V. Ciochetto, M.C., M.M., advises that tne total Home Guard enrolments in the 6A area at the end of April are 6170, of whom 5486 are undergoing training for military duty. This does not include 232 who have been transferred to the E. organisation in Palmerston North city. Although weather conditions are not favourable the attondance at parades throughout the area is very well maintained. From May 17 onwards there will be a Home Guard section attending the C.M.D. camp at the Palmerston North Showgrounds. This will include Home Guardsmen drawn from various parts of the North Island. The Home Guard of tho Horowhenua sub-area will bo carrying out field exercises all along the coast from Waitarcre to Paekakariki on Sunday, May 11. Ia is hoped that Major-General Sir Andrew Russell will be inspecting the Guard at Te Horo and Levin over the week-end. association for a club must be transferred through tho executive before she can play for another club.” It was agreed to take a turn in assist ing with entertainment at tho A.N.A.
