Hodgens, M.P., for assistance to those suffering financial loss as a result of the recent flood in Palmerston North,” stated the Mayor (Mr. A. E. Mansford), in the course of his address at the Opera House last night. “The Minister of Finance told Mr. Hodgens that we would be treated in a similar manner to other places which had suffered in a like manner. Within three or four hour* Hon. D. Wilson, representing the Minister of Finance, a representative of the Treasury and a representative of the Public Works Department, came to Palmerston North and visited the affected areas and some of the homes. They all expressed their sympathy with the sufferers and I am sure any requests f o help will receive sympathetic eonside>v tion. I do, however, want to expries publicly my thanks to the Minster, Hon. D. Wilson and his officers for theipromptness in coming to Palmersf North.”
