(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. J. H. Cowan is making a satisfactory recovery from his recent indisposition. On Wednesday last while playing at school Kenneth Cowan fell and fractured his collarbone. Mr. Lambic took the lad out to the doctor. This is the second time that Kenneth has fractured his collarbone. Mr. F. Munro had the misfortune to suffer injury while sledging manure at (his farm during tho week. Hie friends j will regret to learn, that on seeking (medical advice it was found that Mr. Munro had fractured his ribs and that (ho will have to bo less active than usual. The Homo Scienco Committee representing tho Apiti Women’s lustituto and the Women’s’Division met at Mrs. J. R. Osborne’s homo on Wednesday evening. As this was the first meeting of the newly elected committee, Mrs. 'Stanley was re-elected chairman and Mrs. Osborne secretary. Classes for next term were arranged for the girls land materials are to be purchased, and it was suggested that articles- made (should be sold for patriotic funds later in the year. Tho committee will present suggestions to the ne?t meeting of the W.I. and W.D.F.U. regarding the arranging of sale for the articles made. It is also propsed to have a competition for buttonholes and patching to encourage the girls in this class of needlework which Mrs. McMurtrie has been supervising. At the conclusion of the meeting Mrs. Osborne entertained tho committee. The Home Guard parade to have been held in Feilding on Saturday was cancelled, but as tho Apiti unit had arranged to parade at 10.15 a.m., this part of the programme was adhered to and lectures were given on fieldcraft and signalling. Morning tea was supplied by the school committee and willing helpers, tho profits going to the school swimming pool fund. The annual meeting of St. Luke’s Anglican Church was held at the home of Mr. W. J. Vilos on Friday evening. The Vicar, Rev. F. E. Fleury, of Kimbolton, presided over a good attendance. The report showed that during (the year a good deal of work had been (done and the church property w'ell 'cared for. The balance sheet showed the finances to be in a satisfactory conedition. Mr. Fleury thanked all who jhad worked, in the intrests of the church. Lay Readers are now to have badges, and opportunity was taken to present Mr. R. C. J. Martin’s badge to his mother. Mr. Martin will shortly be returning from Territorial camp. Tho appointment of the Parish Synodsman was approved. The committee was reelected with the addition of Mrs. T. Nix and Miss J. Woods. Mr. W. J. Viles was re-elected secretary and Mrs. M. E. A. Martin as treasurer.
