Intermediate School

FIRST ANNUAL MEETING PARENTS ELECT COMAIITTEE The first annual meeting of the Palmerston North Intermediate School was held on Alondav evening, Mr. W. G. Black presiding. Air. Black thanked the meeting for the honour they had accorded him and ho also extended his sympathy to residents who suffered as a result of the disastrous flood. Air. Black also spoke of the trouble the flood had caused at the Hokowhitu School and mentioned that he and Air. W. H. Brown, as members of the Education Board, would see that everything was done to assist the staff and committee at Hokowhitu. Air. Black then read the first annual report of the provisional committee consisting of the chairmen of the six contributing schools. Air. Whibloy took the opportunity of extending his thanks to the members of the provi.sional committee, for their fine work in connection with the establishment of the school. Air. Whibley made special mention of Air. Black’s work as chairman and of Air. Plimmer’s as secretary. Air. Plimmer read the statement of accounts, and the statement and report were adopted on the motion of the chairman, who stated that the effort to Becure access to the school from College Street had been approved by tho Education Department. Seven nominations were received for the committee and an election was necessary. When this had been completed the chairman announced that the parents’ representatives would be Messrs. W. H. Brown, Austin Charles, J. S. Hornblow, F. G. Alajor and J. L. C. Aferton and Airs. AI. McPhail. The chairman explained that each of the six contributing schools was required to appoint a representative and to advise the Education Board and that the chairman would be elected when the full committee was in existence.
