The Australian Prime Minister (Mr. R. G. Menzies) left London for America on Friday last. Trooper H. C. Reid, a despatch rider with the Mounted Kiiles in camp at Tauhereuikau, and a sou of Mr. H. B. Reid, of Palmerston North, sustained concussion as a result of an accident during night manoeuvres and is at present in hospital, where he is making good progress. The sudden death occurred in a Wellington private hospital of John Laughton, aged 69, Dominion Secretary of Druids, and a prominent bowler. He was a former New Zealand rinks champion.
