Mr. Blair Tennent at Hokowhitu
MEETING AT MUNICIPAL HALL TO-NIGHT Mr. Blair Tennent, candidate for the Mayoralty, addressed a gathering of residents of Hokowhitu last evening when his exposition of civic administration and his policy were given an attentive hearing. In reply to a questioner who asked why a better bus service could not be provided for Hokowhitu, Mr. Tennent explained that the fleet of nine buses operated by the city were hard pushed to satisfy the growing demands of the growing population, and that if further
buses could be obtained a more satisfactory service could be rendered. A vote of thanks was accorded the candidate on the motion of Mr. M. Williamson, seconded by Mr. Melville. With the prospect of a third candidate for the mayoralty the contest becomes very intriguing and Mr. W. B. Tennent, who has addressed several suburbs, will speak to the* citizens tomorrow night. He will explain his reasons for a change of mayor, even in war-time, as well as set out his views and proposals regarding the city’s future activities. Mr. T. M. N. Rodgers will preside, and the meeting commences at 8 p.iru
