U.S. Ships Fall Into Japanese Hands
UNIONIST’S CHARGE WASHINGTON, April 28. .«r Vincent Malone, secretary ci the Pacific Coast Marine Firemen, Oilers, and Wipers’ Union, told the Maritime Commission to-day thai some of the United States vessels transferred to the Panama flag were transferred to Japanese registry after a short interval. When asked for evidence, Mr Malone said he would supply the names of the, ships. He spoke at a conference of marine union and ship-owner representatives called by the commission to discuss means for meeting the need for seamen in the expanding merchant marine. The Naval Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives to-day approved a request by the Office of Production Management for broad powers to impose priorities and to ration all materials needed for the production cf war supplies for the United States and Britain.
