MAY SOLVE PROBLEM OF SHIPPING LONDON, April 27. A method of extracting all the nutritive and stimulative properties of beef has been discovered by LieutenantColonel Herbert Watkins Pitchford, a former Government bacteriologist. The method will unable the transport of concentrated food to England by air. It is claimed that a flying-boat with a capacity of three and a-half tons could convey all the nutriment present in 121 carcases of an average dressed weight of 5601 b. The food content of 51,600 carcases of beef could be transported in a ship having refrigerated space for 6000 carcases. The method is applicable to a wide range of foods without appreciably affecting the flavour.
