April Bride in Gossamer Magnolia Satin
HOLMWOOD—ROGERS All Saints’ Church, Palmerston North, having been decorated by friends of the bride, made a pretty wedding | setting on Tuesday, April 15, for tne marriage of Clara Evelyn, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. YV. J. Rogers, Ferguson Street, Palmerston North, to Edgar Alfred Holmwood, only son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Holmwood, of Nelson. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Canon G. Y. Woodward. The soft tones of the organ announced the entry of the bride, escorted by her father. Her beautiful gown was of gossamer magnolia satin, cut on classic lines, with heart-shaped neckline, tight fitting to the hips and flared out from a bustle to form a train. Down the back i from neckline to waist were tiny buttons covered with the same material. The embroidered veil of the same rich toning fell softly from a halo of white velvet violets to form a second train. She carried a shower bouquet of Easter lilies, cream gladioli, neriues and maidenhair fern. Her only ornament was a gold locket. The bride was attended by two maids, her sister, Miss Adelaide Rogers (chief) ! and Mrs. Eric Smith, sister of the bridegroom, as matron of honour. They were attired in romance blue georgetto and cavalcade georgette, made on slimfitting lines, the bodices being tight fitting, with heart-shaped neens and tiny bows of velvet ribbon down the front, tho skirts falling gracefully in flares to the ground. Their shower bouquets were of flamingo gladioli, dahlias and maidenhair ieru. They wore silver juliet caps and silver slippers to complete their dainty toilettes. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Kelvin Sutton (Wellington) us best man and Mr. lan King (Wellington) as groomsman. At the reception held at the P.D.C. tearooms tho bride’s mother, assisted by Mrs. Holmwood, tho bridegroom’s mother, received tho guests, who had assembled from as far away as Auckland, Nelson, Masterton and YY Tellington. Mrs. Rogers wore a navy ensemble, with hat to match, and a shoulder spray of autumn-tinted flowers. Mrs. Holmwood was attired in a navy costume, with matching hat, a brown fur stole, with which she wore a shoulder-spray of autumn-tinted flowers. The duties of toast-master were
capably carried out by Mr. Len Anderson, of Halcombe. The presents included many beautiful articles as well as cheques. On leaving for the honeymoon, the bride appeared in a tailored frock of mist blue woolaine, with coat of mushroom pink, mist blue turban and accessories. The young couple will make their future home in Nelson.
