R.S.A. Concert
EXCELLENT ENTERTAINMENT The R.S.A. Anzac night concert in tho Women’s Institute Hall met with a . splendid response by the public and was | one of the most enjoyable entertainments staged in Woodville for a considerable time. A party of popular Pahiatua and Eketahuna entertainers provided the major portion of the programme, assisted by Mr. H. Brooker, of 1 Woodville. The orchestral and other ' instrumental numbers provided a musical treat in themselves and were popuI larly received. Items included popular I military marches by the Home Guard : Band, vocal solos by Messrs. W. Greaves I and L. Anderson, orchestral selections | (Mr. K. Hicks, leader); pianoforte duets, Messrs. Brooker and Hicks; xylophone solos (with orchestral accompaniment), Mr. H. Brooker; humorous monologues, Mrs. Watson; tap-dancing, Miss Boyens; elocutionary items, Miss Richards; vocal solos, Mrs. Ralph, Mrs. Harrington and Miss Kemp; accord eon solos, Mr. Willis; community singing led by Mr. L. Greaves. The accompanists were Mrs. R. R. Johnston and Mr. K. Hicks. At 9 o’clock tho gathering observed one minute’s silence, as is customary. At the conclusion of the programme the president of the R.S.A., Mr. J. Charles, expressed the thanks of the R.S.A. for the fine public response to the annual appeal and expressed appreciation of the generous help given by the visiting performers. In thanking the Home Guard Band for its assistance, Mr. Charles complimented them on the ; progress rqade during the month which ! has elapsed since it came into being. ) Mr. W. Greaves expressed thanks on behalf of the visiting performers.
