A Story of the Alaskan Wilderness
COLUMBIA’S “TUNDRA” (Mayfair: Commencing to-day.) Here i 3 a refreshing picture that should please audiences generally. It is laid in an Alaskan wilderness, with all types of animals sharing honours with Del Caxnbre, the featured player. In fact, two bear cubs found by Jambre in his trek across the Arctic cundra, provide most of the laughs and they will be popular with adults as well as youngsters. The picture is full of thrills, with icy avalanches, musk oxen, starving sled dogs and other animals endangering the hero’s life. Cambre, “the flying doctor” is on his way to an isolated, plague ridden settlement when his plane crashes in the sea. He starts his trek across snow, [marches, glaciers and through a forest. I His only companions are the bear cubs, with the mother bear usually in pursuit. Norman Dawn’s direction is excellent, while the camera work by Dawn, Jacob and Edward Hull is high class.
