Shannon
(From Our Owu Correspondent.) Queen Carnival Notes The recent Queen carnivals conducted respectively at Shannon, Levin and Otaki centres, in connection with the Heart-to-Heart Appeal, have resulted in a substantial sum being raised, the figures being as follows:—Shannon, £2,905 0s Od (116,200 votes); Levin, £4,800 0s Od (96,000 votes); Otaki, £4,145 7s 8d (165,815 votes). The Anzac parade and service at .Shannon this year will be hehj earlier than usual. The parade will assemble at the school at 9.15 a.m., and will proceed via Plimmer Terrace to the Cenotaph, whore wreathes will be laid. A brief pause will be made en route, at the South African Memorial, where a similar service will take place. The service will follow immediately in the Renown Theatre, and will be conducted by the Rev. E. F. Bush (Presbyterian). The Palmerston North Silver Band will be in attendance, and local organisations taking part in the parade will include members of the R.S.A., the Home Guard and E.P.S., the Boy Scout and Girl Guide Troops and school children. At the conclusion of the service mem hers of the Returned Soldiers’ Association will be tho guests of the Shannon Women’s Institute at a luncheon in the Parish Hall.
