Another Heavy Raid On Western Germany
COLOGNE AND DUSSELDORF LONDON, April 22. Last night aircraft of the Bomber Command carried out heavy raids on Western Germany. Cologne received a smashing attack and although visibility was bad large fires were seen to break out. Dusseldorf was among the other cities raided. The Rotterdam oil stores received another pasting, and Dunkirk and Calais were also heavily attacked. Aircraft of the Coastal Command again attacked Brest despite unfavourable weather and bombs were dropped in the dock area. A heavily-laden enemy supply ship of 3000 tons was bombed and sunk off the coast of Norway. An Air Ministry communique says: “There was scarcely any enemy activity last night. A few hombs were dropped in the east and southwest of England, but there was no damage and very few casualties."
