(From Our Own Correspondent.) Plunket Society Those present at the sixteenth annual meeting of the Shannon sub-branch of the Plunket Society were Mesdames J. A. Easton (president), Pirani, Sutton and Aiiss Bowen ‘ (president, treasurer and secretary respectively, of the Levin branch), also Mesdames W. Radford, C. Stern, F. Thurston (treasurer) and L. Edwards (secretary). Nurse Hight reported that during the year firty-onc visits had been paid to Shannon and seventy homes w r ere visited. Six hundred and sixty-eight adults came to the office and five hundred and ninety-two babies, also two and sixty-one preschool children. The attendance at the office had been excellent during the year and tho work had progressed satisfactorily. The general health of the babes had been good until recently when whooping cough became prevalent. The president, in reviewing the jmst year, expressed tho committee's regret at losing the services ot' two valued members—Mrs. A. Semple, who had served on the committee and attended to the rooms for 9 years, and Airs. J. Alexander who was secretary and treasurer for three years. Thanks were due to Air. R. Hayes for attending to the lawn and garden round the rooms, the T. G. Alacarthy Trust for their donation of £ls to the funds, Air, Moody for auditing the books, Mr. J. A. Roach for supplying lunch to the nurse, to all subscribing members to the advisory board and to all who assisted in any way. Mrs. Easton recalled that during the past year Nurse McKee was transferred to Motneku. Nu|se Hight was appointed to fill tho vacancy aud thanks were expressed to her for the conscientious manner in which she performs her duties. Officers elected for the ensuing year were: —President, Mrs. J. A. Easton; patroness, tho Mayoress (Mrs. E. Butt); vice-presi-dents, Alesdames Radford, B. Clayton and W. P. Harpur; treasurer, Airs. F. Thurston; secretary, Air. C. Stern; general committee, Alesdames A. E. Hyde, 11. Easton, W. Birch, J. D. Campbell, W. Behrens and Lee; advisory board, Alessrs. T. C. Thwaites, A. Hyde and B. J. (Mrs.-A. L. Edwards, who was secretary up to the end of the financial year although living in Levin for several .months. Airs. Edwards had also been a committee member since 1932 and it .was askod that appreciation of her services be recorded in the minute book. Airs. Pirani congratulated the president, committee and members on their year's work. Rainfall I During Alarch (1941) 4.73in of lain fell at Alangaore, 34 days being wet. For the same period in 3 940, 3.43 m fell on 15 days and in 3939 2.49in on 7 days. In comparison at No. 3 dam, jAlangaliao, ll.GSiu of rain fell, 17 days being wet.
