Enemy Destroyer Hit by Bombs

TROOPS ON PARADE ATTACKED (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, April 1. Reviewing what is described as a busy and successful day by Blenheims of the Bomber Command yesterday, an Air Ministry communique say* that 'njyskips, supply ships, gun emplacements, and German troops were bombed and machine-gunned. Besides the two tankers set on fire off Le Havre and left sinking, a destroyer off the Frisian Islands was later twice hit. She slewed round and came to a standstill listing heavily. Our aircraft then flew low over the islands of Terschelling and Ameland and bombed and machine-gunned gun ! emplacements and German troops on parade. Heavy casualties were inflicted on the troops, and the parade was dispersed. Still later, another sortie scored a direct hit on an enemy supply ship, one of a convoy of eight vessels protected by warships and fighters. From these operations, two of our planes are missing. When the Blenheims attacked German troops on parade at Terschelling and Ameland islands, they roared over only 50 feet above the ground, and the crews saw the enemy troops rush to cover. During an attack on a long grey hut around which German troops were standing on another island, the aircraft came down to ten feet, and a direct hit produced volumes of black smoke.
