At the monthly meeting of the lirectors of the Palmerston North Cooperative Building Society Mr. J. B. Gcrrand presided. Other directors >ersent were Messrs. D. F. Smillie, M. A. Elliott, F. Jackson, S. W. Bapley and H. Findlay Wilson. Ballots for return of subscriptions in Group 5 wero held the successful members being Mr. J. J. Cox, Palmerston North, and Mr. A. Martin, Wellington, tn group 7, 9 and 11 ballots for interest free loans were held the following members being successful:—Group 7, Mra FT. G. Schwarz, Palmerston North, '•300; Mr. S. G. Baker, Wellington, •500; Group 9, Mrs. S. E. Wilson, Inglerood, £1,000; Group 11, Miss Ladvman, North, £200; Mr. C. D. Collis, Palmerston North, £SOO. In Group 10 tenders for loans were called and a tender of £BOO, at £25 per cent, was accepted subject to satisfactory valuation of the security ( offered. In Groups S and 11 loans of £SOO and £2OO were approved after consideration of the valuers’ report on the properties offered for security. In all Groups general business of the Society was conducted, the directors commenting favourably on the way payments of members were being maintained.
