Attractive Silver for the Buying
HELP THE SILVER THIMBLE FUND The windows in the corner store beneath the Commercial Hotel are attracting considerable attention for they are filled with the silver that is to be auctioned there to-morrow afternoon on behalf of the Silver Thimblo Fund appeal. Members of the committee, headed by Mrs. Cyril King, spent a busy dav yesterday sorting and polishing and many fine old pieces are on view. The quaint teapots that have been sent in would make a show in themselves and there are beautifully chased tea and coffee services. Old-fashioned candlesticks and snuffers should bo eagerly sought after and there are all manner of cake and fruit dishes. Jewellery of a by-gone age find its place in the collection and a wide variety of pewter ware, toilet jars and dressing table ornaments. There are many choice pieces collectors would be glad "to purchase, particularly the Sheffield plate, Oeorgian spoons, punch ladles, old coins, etc., and a lemon squeezer that many would like to possess, not forgetting some gracefully designed table centre ornaments. Everything points to a gratifying sum being added to the fund.
