Willard Home Board Considers Month’s Work

The monthly meeting of the Willard Children’s Homo Board was held on Monday afternoon. Airs. E. A. Collins presided and also present were Alesdames F. J. Nathan, C. F. Spooner, I). C. Barnett, J. A. AlcLeavev, C. Greig, A. .T. Andrews, D. Watson, N. Ratcliffe, J. B. Sarikey, R. B. Robertson, A. G. Farland, P. Aekins, Aliss M. Cranston and Airs. E. B. Jennings (secretary). Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames D. J. Lovelock, K. AlcDonald, T. R. Hodder, R. Port, E. V. West and R. McAlurray. Correspondence included letters forwarding.donations of £1 Is from the Sunshine Club, a cheque towards Christmas cheer for the children from the Alayor (Air. A. E. Mansford), a donation of £1 5s from the Feildiug Bible class rally, notification of a legacy of £lO from the late Airs. W; Ritchie, and a quarterly cheque of £2 10s from “an old .friend.” Letters, were received from parents expressing gratitude for the care of children. Approval was given for the admission of two families to the home. The matron’s report stated that Christmas and New Year had been most enjoyable with numerous gifts for which the children were very grateful. The holiday at Foxton had been delightful; the children had benefited

considerably and had been commended for their excellent behaviour. Since returning the children had resumed school enthusiastically, the seniors enj-oying their new schools (two are now going to the Technical School and three to the Intermediate School). Eight children had been discharged and eight admitted. The visitors’ report was given by Airs. AlcLeavey, who stated that everything was in a most satisfactory condition. Airs. Tanner, of Karere, had thoughtfully pulped a quantity of plums for the home while the matron and children were at the beach. The secretary was asked to write to Airs. Woodley thanking her for her help and interest in the home. A vote of thanks was passed to Air. Ritchie who had supplied Meat while the children were in Foxtoi>
