(From Our Own Correspondent.) Women’s Fellowship The monthly meeting of the Fellowship was held on Wednesday last when there was a good attendance. Members stood for a moment’s silence as a mark of respect to those who had recently suffered bereavements. Mrs. Gray, secretary of the Feilding Auxiliary read a letter from the Dominion president, Mrs. Taylor. Mrs. Hisloys also read letters from two pf the Sisters of the Solomon Islands Mission Field telling of their work on the islands. Baby garments and warm coats are especially needed for the Maori peoplo at Kurahuna, and anybody having any to spare please bring to the March meeting. Arrangements for the Sunday School teachers were discussed and it was agreed that Mrs. Pearson be in charge of the smaller children. It was left in the hands of the president, to find someone to take the other classes. Mrs. A. Laing takes the position of secretary which was marie vacant by the resignation of Mrs. Hisloys. Owing to the ill-health of Mrs. Sandbrook Miss J. Mitchell was elected to the position of birthday steward. The hostesses for the March meeting will be Mesdames Pilcher and Beazer and Mrs. Laing will bo the social steward. A competition arranged by Mrs. Sandbrook was won by Mrs. A. Humphrey. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs. R. Humphrey and Miss J. Mitchell. A successful card evening run under the auspices of the local Women’s Institute was held on Saturday evening last, the proceeds going to the W.I. Soldiers’ Parcel Fund. Mrs. W. Hills and Mrs. Heayns tied for first place in the ladies and Miss Violet Lang won the sealed prize. Mr. T. Shalders and Mr. S. Mayhew tied for the men's prize and Mr. W. D. R. Baker was the winner of the sealed prize. Miss K. McKay was the winner of a competition arranged by Mrs. Baker, Snr. Just before supper was served by an energetic band of ladies, Mrs. Baker, president of the W. 1., voiced her thanks to all who had made the evening such a success. Mrs. Baker also expressed her thanks to those who liad given donations, prizes, etc. The parcels fund benefits to the extent of approximately £-1 10s. A letter was read from a soldier in Suva, expressing his thanks for a parcel be had received from the W.I. at Christmas. The last committee meeting of the year was held on Friday and the next month’s programme was arranged. A full attendance at the annual meeting is requested when the election of officers and a new committee will take place. Personal Nurse Noelinc Laing, who ha 3 been on sick leave from the Hawera hospital, has been staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Laing, and returns to duty at the beginning of the week. Miss L. Bakekr is spending a holiday with her sister, Mrs. G. Walker, of Auckland. Mrs. J. W. Nairn of il Whercrata, ” who has been holidaying at Paekakariki, has now gone to stay with her parents at Johnsonville. Airs. V. Staekurski and family and Miss Schrieber, all of Inglewood, who have been staying with Mr. and Mrs. S. Schrieber, have returned to their home. Mr. and Mrs. A. Humphrey, accompanied by Mrs. A. Laing, have returned to their respective homes after a motoi tour of the Wairoa and other northern districts. The friends of Mrs. L. Sandbrook will be sorry to hear that she has had to enter hospital in Palmerston North, and all will wish her a speedy return to health. Mr. D. Bowatcr is also an inmate of the hospital and his* friends will wish him a speedy recovery.
