WAR SERVICE APPEALS

Full Information from Industry (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 20. The need for the full facts regarding industries when an exemption from military service for workers is claimed was stressed by the Crown representative, Mr C. O. Bell, when appeals based on public interest were heard to-day by the Armed Forces Appeal Board. Mr Bell pointed out that when a firm appealed on behalf of an employee or several employees and did not provide full particulars of the man employed, the board was unable to get a proper view of the necessity for claiming exemption. If the board were supplied with a list of male employees showing the number eligible for military service, the number called for service, and the number already taken from the industry to serve in the forces, it would be 1 in a better position to judge the needs of the industry concerned.
