Co-operation With Home Guard
DECISION or RIFLE CLUB A meeting of the Mangamutu Miniature Rifle Club was held at Mr. J. D. Thomson’s residence on Tuesdaj- nightj Mr. Thomson being in the chair in the absence of the president (Mr. L. J. Heayns). A letter was read from a firm from whoin the club had ordered ammunition advising that supplies were now to hand. The secretary was instructed to arrange for delivery of the club’s quota. It was reported that representations had been made on behalf of the Home Guard Committee seeking the co-opera-tion of the club in instructing members of the Heme Guard in using rifles. The subject was fully discussed and, while it was pointed out that the chief riifliculty would be in procuring sufficient supplies of ammunition, it was unanimously decided to co-operate with and assist the Homo Guard in every possible way by making the club’s rifles and equipment available and by arranging to have club members appointed to act as instructors. It was also decided to invite representatives of the Home Guard to attend tho annual meeting of the club to discuss the matter. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries regarding the nights on which the Drill Hall would be available for club shooting. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to Mr. Thomson.
