Remarkable Escape
A London woman now living in New Zealand, speaking to a 'Wellington resident, told a remarkable story concerning the bombing of buildings in London. Her mother, she said, as a war worker was given charge of a hostelry for people whose homes had been de stroyed. She was in the upper storey of this place one night as the Nazi planes came over the city and a bomb went through the house to the cellar. She was thrown down through the destroyed building and landed direct on an old Alsatidn dog, lying in the basement. This broko her fall and undoubtedly saved her life. It was a marvellous escape from death*
