WON BY COPE AND JOHNS The Palmerston North Tennis Club held its doubles championships on Saturday, when the men’s championship was won by J. Cope and A. Johns, and the women’s championship by Mrs. Yates and Mrs. Robinson. The following are the detailed results Men’s championship. —First round: Dr. Hooper and Chapman beat Stewart and Muir, H. B. and H. C. Reid beat W. and S. Hooper by default, Hill and Christmas beat Lawson and Taylor, Boddy and Gloyn beat Moffatt and Long, Young and Harvey beat Yates and Pine. Second round: Cope and Johns beat Dr. Hooper and Chapman, 6 —4, 6—4; Hill and Christmas beat 11. B. and H. C. Reid, 6—l, 2 —6, 6 —4; Boddy and Gloyn beat Young and Harvey, 6 —l, 6—l. Semi-final: Cope and Johns boat Hill and Christmas, 6—4, 6 —3. Final: Cope and Johns beat Boddy and Gloyn, 6—3, 6 —3. Women’s championship.—First round: Misses A. Nash and Barnett beat Mrs. Lawry and Mrs. Loughnan, Mrs. Yates and Mrs. Robinson beat Misses Richards and Kortegast, Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Pine beat Misses H. and M. Wapp by default, Misses Cope and Davidson beat Misses Major and Pringle. Second round: Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Pine beat Misses Thompson and Landers by default, Miss Haggitt and Miss Robertson beat Misses Cope and Davidson. Semi-finals: Mrs. Yates and Mrs. Robinson beat Miss Nash and Miss Barnett, Misses Haggitt and Robertson beat Mrs. Allen and Mrs. Pine, 6—3, 7 —5. Final: Mrs. Yates and Mrs. Robinson beat Misses Haggitt and Robertson, I—6, 6—2, 6—4.
