Fierce Italian Tank Attack Shattered ALTHOUGH ASSISTED BY WARSHIPS AND BOMBERS United Press Association—Bv E’.eetrlo Telegraph—Copyright. Received Monday, 10.30 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 6. The Greek Government spokesman reported new successes in the coastal region, where the Italians after a stiff resistance withdrew to prepared positions in tbe direction of Valona. The Greeks took 100 prisoners, including officers. North-eastward j£ this sector the Greeks captured strategic heights 5000 feet high. Enemy opposition was stubborn. The Greeks took prisoner four officers and 350 men. The British United Press correspondent on the Valon front reports that the Greeks shattered one of the fiercest Italian tank attacks since the outbreak of the war, although Italian bombers and warships supported the attack, which began from three points. The Greeks retaliated with terrific shellfire and drove the Italians from the coast road, after which Greek antitank squads armed with heavy grenades assailed the tanks. The Italian losses were very heavy. Italian warships continued to shell coastal villages and roads.
