INDEPENDENT HOLDS BALANCE OF POWER Received Saturday, 1.14 a.m. PERTH, Jan. 3. The Country Party candidate (Mr. T. W. Marwick) won the Swan seat for the Federal Government with a majority of 2383 over the official Labour candidate (Mr. I. Dinau.) Thus the state of the parties iu the Federal House of Representatives, including the Victorian Independent (Mr. Coles) as a Gov ernment supporter, will be; United Australia and Country Parties combined 37; Labour combined 36; Independent Victorian (Mr. Wilson) 1. Mr. Wilson will continue to hold tho balance of power in the House of Representatives.
