Sawmill Destroyed by Fire

NO INSURANCE ON PLANT OR BUILDINGS Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, Jan. 3. A sawmill operated by Marshall ami Sons outside the boundary of Wiuton borough ou the Wiuton-Browns Road, was destroyed by lire shortly after six o’clock this evening. The flames had a strong hold and though strenuous efforts were made to subdue the outbreak the mill was soon reduced to a smoldering mass. Several large stacks of timber, however, were saved. So far as is known there were no insurances on the mill, machinery or stocks, consequently the owners are heavy losers. The mill has been in operation for several years past and lias given steady employment to a number of men who will now be thrown out oi work.
