(From Our Own Correspondent.) New Year’s Day Regatta The weather was perfect on New xear's Day for the Taugimoana Boating Club's annual regatta. The officials were Messrs. N. Dixon, A. R. W. New Year’s Dance The Kelvie llall was again filled to overcrowding for the Beautifying and Improvement Society's dance on New Year’s night. A professional orchestra supplied the music and Mr. J. C. Johnson carried out the duties of M.C. Lucky {Spot waltzes were won by Miss Audrey Thomson and Mr. J. Barrett, and Mr. and Mrs. C. Lyons. Misses B. Crump and J. Yeale and Mr. Bernard Kyle played the extras. Mrs. Hunt’s mother, Mrs Woodham, of Palmerston North who spent Christmas at Tangimoana, is now staying with relatives at Fit/.herbert West. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. W. bcott have their three granddaughters, Audrey, Colleen and Lorna Yallendar, of Feildiug, spending part of the school vacation with them. Mr. and Mrs. R. Fergusson, of Masterton, are spending Christmas and New Year with Mr. and Mrs. George Harvey. Mrs. H. Taylor and her small son, Earle, are sharing a cottage with Mrs. Taylor’s sister, Mrs. W. Dougal, of Daunevirke. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rush and their small son, are holidaying at Tangimoaua. Mr. and Mrs. E. V. Calkin and theif two children, Raymond and Nancy, are staying at the beach for several weeks. Miss Elva Miles is staying with them. Mrs. Miles, Mr. Noel Miles and -Miss Beth Tolley, of Marton, spent Christmas and the New Year at Mrs. Miles' beach cottage. Pilot Officer John Penney has returned to Ilarewood after spending Christmas with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. * Mrs” W. Marshall and her twin daughters, Margaret and Judith, are staying with Miss M. K. Gould, Mrs. Marshall's sister. Mrs. «. Lyon has Mr. and Mrs. J. Lyon and family, of Palmerston North, all home during the .Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. W. Williamson and their daughter, Yalerie, of Wellington, ; spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. V. jA. Martin. I Mr. G. Alsop, who recently returned 1 from a visit to relatives in and around Christchurch, is spending a few days at his beach cottage hero before proceeding north with his son, Mr. Maljcolm Alsop.
