Time, 1.1 4-5. (Winner trained by E. J. Nelson, Marton Junction.) War Credit was the “wan” favourite and Ringcraft the “place’' favourite ' for the Trial Plate, the opening event, and they paid the dividends, but * “place’’ backers of Ringcraft showed * a substantial loss. Ringcraft jumped * out smartly and led all the way, being followed into the straight by Wildfire, 5 Inform and War Credit. The last- * named, on the rails, failed to get up, Ringcraft winning by half a length. Wildfire was a neck away, and Gold Tray was fourth, with Inform w r ell back. Great Quex was a generous-priced favourite for the Tutaemii Hajjk Hurdles, and he had an easy win, trailing the leaders, Debretts, Haile Selassie and Prinihia, to the half-mile and then ' assuming the lead. Haile Selassie followed Great Quex into the straight, but Selkirk finished well to get second * place, two lengths behind Great Quex. * Three lengths back came Moradabad, ' ahead of Manteau and Haile Selassie. Lady Acora repeated her first-day success in the two-year-olds’ race, being kept in reserve for a dash 1 through on the rails at the straight ’ entrance, where Redstone drove her to the front, heading off Leisurely and Soutane. Lady Acora went on to win by four lengths, and Fleche d’Or beat Amorangi by three-quarters of a length for second place. Soutane was fourth. “Place” supporters of the winner lost money. Gemara, a warm favourite for the Wairoma Hack Handicap, was beaten ( out of a place, Colincamps running up ' to the pacemaker, Pitmark, at the halfmile and coming away in the straight to win by a length from Waimutu, who ’ had followed the pair into the straight. [ Waimutu returned an excellent price. 1 Pitmark was three-quarters of a length ‘ behind the second horse, and Squeers and Gemara were next. ‘ Amigo proved his outstanding class in the Aidworth Stakes, for which, he L was backed down to a short price, and ’ the issue was never in doubt. Laughing Song, Golden Ridge and Old Surrey 1 were the early leaders, with Amigo tucked in on the rails behind them. Golden Ridge was abreast of Laughing Song running down the back, but , Amigo ran up to them at the half-mile nnd hit the front nearly three furlongs from home. He had to be shaken up when Dark Eagle and Old Surrey ehalv lenged, but a couple of kicks from Cavaney sent the top weight along to win by two and a-half lengths. Old Surrey caught Dark Eagle napping and got second money by a head. Colossal Chief was fourth and Laughing Song and Golden Ridge were next. Homily stood on the mark and took no part in the race. * Black Robe, favourite for the Tcle--5 graph Handicap, had to share the . honours with Grandora, the judge being 1 unable to separate them, but Night Eruption appeared to be unlucky as she > had to be checked a furlong off the winning post. Grandora and Black Robe made most of the running from Jeanne and Night Eruption, Valiant Lady, wide out, being third on the home turn. In a great set-to Black , Robe got on terras with Grandora in the last stride. Night Eruption was * two lengths away, third, with Valiant Lady fourth. I There was the biggest upset ever on the Marton course when Goldburn won (the Rangitikei Hack Cup from Hunting Lore and the well-backed Esperance ! Bay. Out of the straight. Hunting Lore | and Last Acre held command from Our- | tail, All Quiet and Renascor, and along ! the back Hunting Lore had drawn i clear, only to be joined by Curtail and I 4.11 Quiet at the half-mile, with Last j Acre at tho head of the others. There I was a good deal of jostling behind the i leaders turning for home, Segra being ! one of the sufferers as Goldburn came ’ round the field to take on Hunting j Lore, Curtail and All Quiet. In the ; run to the judge Goldburn went on to 1 . win by a length from Hunting Lore,

A. McDonell) at 9 o’clock on Monday evening. who beat Esperanco Bay, finishing fast, by a neck. Last Acre was fourth and then came Segra, All Quiet and Curtail. The concluding event was won by the Marton-trained mare, Golden Pam, with Miss Leighon and Valiant Lady in the Minor places. Running to the straight the pacemakers were Golden Pam and Cheetah with Valiant Lady next. Valiant Lady, who was going well, moved up to challenge, but her saddle slipped, nnd when she passed the post it was down underneath her. The winner’s margin was three lengths and Miss Leighon got up to beat Valiant Lady by a length. Cheetah was fourth.
