New Year’s Eve in Feilding
LARGE crowd present Ideal weather conditions prevailed in Feilding on New Year’s Eve, and the town presented a very festive air with many coloured lights glittering amongst a background of brighter street lights. People had gathered from various surrounding districts to do'justice 'to the age-old custom of welcoming in the new year and bidding farewell to the old. A large crowd assembled in the Square and as the town clock chimed the hour of midnignt a scene of much merriment presented itself. The presence of the Feilding Pipo Band, which rendered popular numbers, contributed to the spirit of the occasion. After the New Year had been ushered in and messages of goodwill and cheer for the coining season had been exchanged, the crowd gradually dispersed.
